Classical paddhatis assume you are in Bhārata (Jambu Dweepe · Bhārata Varshe · Bhārata Khande). Outside India there is no single Purāṇic address — temples use working conventions. This tool labels those clearly and lets you switch.

  1. Continent — where you are (Asia, Europe & UK, North America, …).
  2. Which line do you recite? — pick your temple’s convention (e.g. UK Śālmali, US Krauñca, Bangera-type forks for SA/Africa/Australia, or keep Jambu–Bhārata). Use Compare lines to see two side by side. The full geography clause updates below.
  3. City / country soil — optional tags like Singapore, Gulf, Canada, or New Zealand. These never change your dvīpa line.
  4. Badges — Traditional = classical India line; Diaspora convention = priestly workaround; Optional = extra tags some paddhatis add. Source chips name who uses each line.

FAQ

What is Mahalaya sankalpam?
Mahalaya sankalpam is the tarpana resolve recited on each day of Mahalaya Paksha (Bhadrapada Krishna, ending on Mahalaya Amavasya). After the pitru, matru and matamaha lines it adds the pitrvya-matuladi vargadvaya and karunika pitrs, names the Sun in Kanya (or Simha) with Bhadrapada, and closes either as hiranya shraddham or as tilatarpanam in place of the paksha-mahalaya shraddham.
What is tarpana sankalpam?
Tarpana sankalpam is the resolve recited before pitru tarpanam. It names the cosmic era, the classical geography line (dvipa, varsha, khanda, Meru) for your landmass, the day’s tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana, and closes with the tilatarpana formula for that occasion — Amavasya, Sankranti, Mahalaya, Grahana and the rest of the 96 Shannavati days.
What is daily sankalpam?
The daily (nitya) desa-kala sankalpam names the era, your geography, the samvatsara, ayana, ritu, masa, paksha and today’s tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana, ending at shubhatithau. Puja and tarpana add their own close after that.
What is puja sankalpam?
Puja sankalpam is the resolve recited before worship — Varalakshmi vratam, Sankatahara Chaturthi, Ganesha, Navaratri, Krishna Janmashtami and others. It carries the same era, geography and panchang limbs, then the phala you seek and a shodasha upachara puja close.
Which sankalpam should I recite in the USA, UK or Australia?
Traditions differ abroad. North America commonly uses Krouncha Dweepe, the UK and Europe Shalmali Dweepe, Australia Kusha Dweepe. Pick your continent in the tarpana tab, or open your country page, and the geography line updates in the sankalpam.
What do dvipa, varsha and khanda mean?
The seven Puranic continents (sapta-dvipa) are named after sacred trees, plants or landmarks — Jambu after the jamun tree, Shaka after teak. Varsha is a major region inside a dvipa; khanda is the local subdivision.
